Christmas Gifting 2017

I Heart MOOSE!

It's the first of December today and my thoughts are turning to Christmas and this year's trends in gifting. Do you have a very favourite item that you turn to giving your spouse, kids, and bff every year? One theme I'm seeing starting to grow, at least in North America, is images of the moose, especially in plaid form. Yup, the biggest member of the deer family, the moose. He is stalwart, sturdy, and a force to be reckoned with.

When I think about trends in popular e-books/movies, the theme that emerges to me from TV series like Shadowhunters and even going back to the Twilight series, I see huge loyalty to family, kin, and clan. A very stalwart quality I think valued at all times. The moose with its solidity and strength is a good symbol of that and with that in mind I'm designing new items with the moose image theme. Black Cat Cell Phone Cover

As I pondered why a black cat Christmas card would be so popular, I felt that one, people are looking for something different, and two, that black cats are just really fascinating creatures. I've read that black cats make up around 30% of the overall cat population, so a little higher than I would expect for this level of fascination. Is it that they look kind of spooky, or even scary being solid black? There are many negative myths tied to black cats from history but I feel that black cats are very lucky! Locally I've read about a woman who took on the care of a black stray cat and subsequently won some lottery money, but this could be sheer coincidence.
